If you want to push yourself to the limit with 4 hours of single-track riding, this event is for you. If you think that sounds completely nuts, this event is also for you!

If you've done this event before, you'll see that the big change we've made for this year is to go from 5 hours to 4 hours. We think this is plenty long enough to make it an endurance event, but allows a bit more intensity, especially for the solo riders. Also, we plan on doing some trail work on some of the rootier sections.

Apart from that, the spirit will be the same. The Woolastook 4 is about having 4 hours of fun, on your own terms. If you want to race for the win, or have a friendly rivalry, you'll find riders here to push you. But if you want to ride a few laps at your own pace and hang out between laps, you'll have plenty of company. Riding as a team is also a great way to go. Take turns riding hard and chilling out, and 4 hours will be over before you know it. Usually about half the riders compete as part of a team so don't be shy. Teams can be 2 or 3 riders.

The course suits a wide range of abilities. If you are have never done a mountain bike event before there are a couple of sections (uphill and down) that you may want to walk, but the course as a whole is fun singletrack and dual track, not extreme climbs or descents. A loop of the track generally takes 25 - 40 minutes, depending on ability and fitness.

The categories are Solo Men, Solo Women, and Team, with a $100 cash prize for first place in each category. Start time is 11:00am, and everything will be wrapped up by about 4:00. Online registration available here.

PS - we're aways looking for volunteers to help out. We had a great day at the Woolastook 5 today. OK, maybe the last hour wasn’t ideal, but the rain added a little variety to a very successful day.

We’d like to thank our sponsors – Radical Edge for top-notch draw prizes and all-round support; FredFM sponsored by Auto Machinery for providing the music, and The Rock Guys for the great trophies.

We also want to thank our race day volunteers – Eric and Gil on the road crossing; Erin, Stephanie and Onne on the laps counting; and Jane Hadley out in the woods looking for stray bodies. And it wasn’t just race day that made it happen – thanks to Marcel and Sean for clearing the deadfall, and Bev and Greg for all around help and advice.

And thanks most of all to all the participants who came out and suffered for 5 hours. It couldn’t happen without you!

Results are up and photos from Paul Jordan are available now and more will be added later in the week. You can download them, print them, put them on your Facebook, or send them to your family. Enjoy!

Hope to see you next year, and remember the Hadley Challenge will be held this year on August 22nd. Mark in your calendar!

PS. Brent left a wheel at the site. If you found it, see the Questions page for his contact info.
